is an event held by SiIvaGunner in which 32 contestants competed to take over the SiIvaGunner youtube channel. Each contestant was given a sourcelist, that is, a list of all the things their takeover could pull from if they won, and over about a month in November 2019, remixes and arrangements fitting that sourcelist. Contestants were paired up bracket-style and voted out by the viewerbase until a winner was decided.

Of course the whole thing's a competition, but it's a lot more about the journey than the destination for me. The tournament has enjoyed a lot more longevity than the takeover it spawned, largely thanks to the spectacle of it, I think. The reward and the competition are really just a backdrop, an excuse to put out great music, and with a pool of contestants this broad, KFAD really feels like a celebration of music as a whole.

Here's how the bracket turned out.
I think there are very few surprises here. I disagree with a lot of these placements, but public opinion rules all, and most of the outcomes in here are very explainable. For more in-depth thoughts, see the contestants tab below.

The Contestants

32 is a lot. Wowie.

The real draw of the tournament, to me, is the characters competing in it. It's a lot of fun picking your favorite guys, rooting for their matches, listening to their arrangements whenever they release. And there's a lot to choose between, too, this pool of contestants draws from so many pockets of music and internet culture, the diversity of the roster means there's almost certainly someone to get behind.

(Yes, they'll all have original portraits eventually. 32 drawings is a lot, bear with me.)
